Museum Photo Slide Show - 2006
Each year the displays at the National Museum of Cambridge Glass are changed during the "down" period from November through March. This page features a slide show of photographs from the inside of the National Museum of Cambridge Glass from the year 2006.
For 2006, the Sample room display consists of many of the Cambridge glass pieces from the Viola A. Roth bequest. Miss Roth, NCC Member number 121, bequeathed her entire collection of Cambridge glass to the NCC Museum, and quite a collection it is. We elected to fill the Sample Room for 2006 with her glass.
The Museum Dining room is decorated for Christmas for all of 2006 with Carmen gold encrusted pieces. The majority if the glassware is on loan from Ken and Jane Filippini. Additional items are on loan from Lynn Welker and Cindy Arent. In the head chair at the table sits Arthur J. Bennett's top hat which is a recent museum donation. A walking cane complete with a Cambridge Glass door knob handle is also included in the display. The Rose Point chandelier is festively decorated for Christmas and hangs above the whole display. So that you can see all of the display, we've included a number of photographs.
This year the 2006 Member's Display Room features the Nearcut Feather pattern. The display is presented in memory of Jo Rogers. Items are on loan from Chuck and Amy Jo Jones, Frank and Vicki Wollenhaupt, and Ron and Norma Hufford. Four views are shown. It is a treat to see so much of the early production of the Cambridge Glass Company all in one place.
Finally, there's the new Blower's Bench display in the Edna McManus Shepard Education Center. Former Cambridge Glass Company glassworker, Bill Boyd, came to the museum to help us set up the display. The large photo on the floor was from The National Geographic Magazine in 1955 and featured August Heyman, a blower at the Cambridge Glass Company for 32 years.
