Museum Photo Slide Show - 2005

This page features a slide show of photographs from the inside of the National Museum of Cambridge Glass from the year 2005. Each year the displays are changed during the "down" period from November through March.

This year, the Sample room display consists of Samovars (circa 1920s). The molds for the glass inserts were owned by the Central Silver Co. of New York City. The company commissioned either The Cambridge Glass Company or the Paden City Glass Company to manufacture the glass inserts for their product. The samovars were assembled by Central Silver.

The Keg Set mold was owned by The Cambridge Glass Company. The collection is on loan from Rick and Cindy Jones. The first picture allows you to see the overall display, through the window and door of the Sample Room. The second photo shows the samovars that may be either Cambridge or Paden City. The third and fourth photos are of samovars positively identified as Cambridge.

The Dining Room display of pieces in Cambridge's Royal Blue, was truly a joint effort, with glass supplied by members Lindy Thaxton, Lynn Welker, Mike and Cindy Arent, Carl and Shirley Beynon, and Mike and Lisa Strebler. So that you can see all of the display, we've included four photographs.

The Member Display Area this year consists of Cambridge Pitchers, Jugs and Tumblers, supplied by Rick and Cindy Jones. There are three cases, so there are three separate photographs of this display.

Finally, there's a display which depicts a bride of the 1940s opening her wedding gifts of Cambridge Glass. During this time period many of the elegant glassware companies targeted the wedding market by placing advertisements in popular magazines of the era. The Tipperary Chair was made during the same time period by the Suitt Brothers Manufacturing Co. in Cambridge, Ohio. The photo on the wall shows a Tipperary Chair on the factory roof to advertise their product. This display was artfully designed and put together by Cindy Arent.
