Stemware - 3115 Line

by Frank and Vicki Wollenhaupt
Issue 39 - July 1976

This month's stem is another of our odd ones. I didn't think much about it until I saw one recently at a Show. 3115 Stem patent drawingThe one I saw had a Topaz bowl with a Willow blue (light blue) stem. Boy was it pretty ! A little less money and I would have added it to my collection.

3115 Stems Mr. Wilber L. Orme was granted design patent 78,896 on July 2, 1929 for a Glass Goblet.

The first appearance of this stem was in the April 1930 issue of China, Glass and Lamps. It is shown with an optic Crystal bowl and an Ebony stem and foot. The stem is shown on a water goblet, a cocktaii and a wine. In May 1930 this stem is shown again. This time as Line #3115.

In the l930-34 Catalog reprint, on pages 13, 82 and D, we find listed the following items with the #731, #742 and Cleo etchings on them. A 9 oz. goblet, 3½ oz. cocktail, 6 oz. tall sherbet and 5, 10 and 12 oz. footed tumblers.

In the l940 Catalog we can find no listing for this stem. Looks like the production time was something under ten years.
